Some time ago we talked about how to detect problems in the car with the senses. Today we focus a little more, as the smoke from the tailpipe can tell different mechanical problems.
Black smoke from the exhaust pipe
It is the easiest way diagnoses a problem. The engine burns too much fuel. The most likely causes of problems in the air filter sensors, the injection nozzle and the fuel pressure regulator. It should fix, since the car must spend more fuel.
Blue smoke exhaust tube
Usually means that the engine burns oil too. Usually occurs if worn seals valve guides or piston rings. The oil is lost and passes into the combustion chamber (where the fuel is burned together). If your car emits blue smoke check the oil level regularly and that a workshop checks if these pieces have graceful problem (valve guides and piston rings). Continue reading
